Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Highly Specialist Psychologist for the Brent Memory Service. This role would suit HCPC registered Clinical Psychologists who have an interest and experience in neuropsychological assessment, the mental health of older people and dementia.
The post is established at Band 8a for candidates with appropriate experience and expertise. We would also welcome interest from newly qualified or less experienced candidates as we have the flexibility to appoint as a preceptorship (Band 7). Where this applies we would offer the post as a Band 7 preceptorship until necessary experience and competencies within an agreed timeframe are met (JD and responsibilities adjusted accordingly). Main duties of the job
Vaccination
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users and we will therefore be seeking proof of vaccination or medical exemption during the recruitment process. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering psychological assessments and interventions for dementia, including pre- and post-diagnostic counselling and diagnostic neuropsychological assessments. They will supervise an assistant psychologist and trainee clinical psychologist. They will support the team with specialist psychological aspects of the work through advice, consultation and training.

The Brent Memory Service is a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team offering assessment and post-diagnostic support for dementia. It works closely with community services to support the well-being of people with dementia and their carers. Brent is a vibrant and diverse area of London, which has accreditation as a dementia friendly borough. The borough has excellent public transport links by tube and bus, and free parking is available at the base.
The Service values personal and career development. It holds Reflective Practice meetings and training sessions to develop clinical knowledge and skills. The successful applicant will receive clinical supervision and support from the Brent Older Adults Lead Clinical Psychologist. They will be a member of a large Trust network of Older Adults Psychologists, who hold regular professional, CPD and clinical development meetings. The post-holder will have the opportunity to be involved and develop skills in national and local research and quality improvement (QI) projects.
