Job summary

The post holder will provide high quality team leadership and nursing management to the Bloomsbury Clinic team in conjunction with the Clinical Team Leader and the Service Manager.

They will work both as a member of the MDT and as an autonomous practitioner within the clinical service to deliver high quality cost effective care in line with local and national targets.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage and lead the nursing team and healthcare support workers (HCSWs) within the clinic, ensuring the team receive adequate support and development.
  • Perform appraisal and performance review as per policy enabling nursing team to strengthen their own roles.
  • To ensure the provision of clinical supervision for all nursing staff and HCSWs in the team.
  • To utilise management supervision offered by the Clinical Team Leader.
  • To continue to develop the nurses role and nursing contribution toward the improvement in patient care pathways and service provision.
  • Review work performance and progress of nursing team.
  • Manage performance and sickness within the team including processes with Human Resources Team.
  • Provides high quality, specialist HIV/Sexual Health care that is based on clear, clinical evidence, as part of the MDT and autonomously.

  • Contemporary knowledge of HIV, STIs, sexual health, s experience in staff management role
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Excellent communication skills and IT literate
  • Ability to motivate and lead others
  • Ability to act as a leader, educator and facilitator to develop junior staff
  • Previous experience in staff management role

Desirable

  • Experience managing uncomplicated cases in their entirety

Essential

  • RGN Level 1
  • University Certificate or equivalent in HIV training and/or University Certificate or equivalent in Sexual Health training
  • Mentorship course
  • Ability to work to Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
