To support the ward manager in ensuring day-to-day operation of the ward
To assist in the development of junior staff and act as a clinical lead for nurses. To lead by example.
To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence based nursing care for the children, young people (CYP) and their families at all times.
Main duties of the job
This position offers a development opportunity for an experienced inpatient nurse. Prior CAMHS experience is not necessarily required but a willingness to develop the therapeutic skills needed in this environment will be key.
You will work within a team of nurses and a wide variety of other disciplines. Good communication and organisational skills are essential. Your role covers a wide range of tasks that will require confidence, patience, tolerance and creativity, as well as a good sense of humour and a satisfactory level of physical health.
The successful candidates will work a rota system of shifts which will include a combination of days, nights and weekends, from Monday to Sunday.

About us
Lavender Walk is a Tier 4 Adolescent Unit which provides acute inpatient care for young people (aged 13-18) with mental health and emotional difficulties. The Unit is based at South Kensington Mental Health Centre alongside the established Eating Disorder Inpatient and Outpatient Service.
Lavender Walk opened in November 2018 and continues to develop as a service. We are looking to become QNIC approved in the near future and as a team are highly invested in continually assessing and improving the quality of care being provided for our young people. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is interested in service improvement as well as caring for patients.

- Promote Family Centred Care and ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring, clean and safe environment for the CYP and their families.
- To be able to recognise escalation in behaviour or shift in ward dynamics and proactively address this with staff or young people.
- To be able to ensure that all observations are allocated and carried out appropriately and effectively.
- To be able to identify the need for increased/decreased observations and act appropriately and in line with unit procedure.
- To ensure that all Trust and departmental policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- To supervise junior staff and students to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
- To demonstrate a good knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Childrens Act, Mental Capacity Act and any other relevant legal information pertaining to this field of practice.
- To receive section papers correctly, identifying rectifiable and non-rectifiable mistakes. To be able to escalate and respond to this as needed.
