Job summary

Senior Supervisor/Brent Mental Health Support Team

We have an exciting opportunity for 5 CAMHS practitioners to join our Mental Health Support Teams in Brent, Harrow or Hillingdon.

The role will support the development of the MHST alongside senior colleagues within the service.

Working as part of the Brent, Harrow or Hillingdon Mental Health Support Team, the role will support the delivery of all interventions within the MHST teams, ensuring that a wide range of evidence-based interventions are used to support young people's mental health and to ensure early help and access to specialist services is seamless and transparent.

The post holder will need to be flexible with a clear understanding of THRIVE and how all providers and organizations build on collaborative working with children, young people and families at the heart of all we do.

Main duties of the job

  • Day to day operational running of the MHST teams, with support from Clinical Lead/Supervisor and CAMHS management structure.
  • Holding a caseload and undertaking the role of lead professional for children/young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in educational settings.
  • Working as an autonomous and accountable practitioner. This involves the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care for the child or young person.
  • Developing and disseminating packages of care which may include variety of evidenced based interventions and work with parents and teaching staff on an individual and in a group setting.
  • Working collaboratively with young people and their families incorporating the use of outcome measures within their work.
  • Offering specialist support, consultation and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.
  • The post holder may have the opportunity to undertake a CYP IAPT supervisory course to become a supervisor for the Education Mental Health Professional (EMHP) at UCL depending upon existing qualifications and experience and course start date.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be working across schools supporting trainee EMHPs in the borough by providing supervision, consultation, mental health assessments and evidenced based mental health treatments to children, young people and their families. They will provide support to frontline childrens services in developing their capacity in early identification and intervention with childrens mental health need. Promoting the emotional and mental health of children, young people and their families in the community, facilitating appropriate access to specialist CAMHS and other relevant provision. As a senior supervisor will be working as part of the leadership team to lead and manage the service.

  1. To provide comprehensive mental health assessments and evidence-based treatment to children, young people and their families, using routine outcome measures as part of clinical practice.
  2. To deliver role across school settings, both face-to-face and via a digital offer.
  3. Promoting the emotional and mental health of children and young people through the training of professionals/parents and carers in the early intervention and management of children and young peoples mental health difficulties.
  4. To have knowledge of the 2014 Children and FamiliesAct in regards to children andyoung people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
  5. To demonstrate an understanding of the graduated approach to support SEND, including use ofthe Brent / Harrow/Hillingdon SEND Local Offer.
