Job responsibilities

DUTIES OF THE POST

Clinical Work

1. To provide psychiatric and medical assessments of children and adolescents, including prescribing and monitoring medication, working therapeutically with young people and family and supporting delivery of services according to NICE guidelines policies.2. To undertake physical examinations and order investigations as required.3. The post-holder will join other members of the team to provide psychiatric input including assessment and treatment of comorbid mental health disorders.4. To provide clinical assessments for new referrals (typically one or two new assessments weekly).5. Once trained in relevant therapy models, the post-holder will have a small caseload of patients for whom they will be lead therapy/case manage depending on clinical skills and interest.6. To contribute to collection of Clinical Outcome data across the service.7. To liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.8. Consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team, including with respect to the management of risk.9. Actively participate in weekly MDT10. Participate in duty rota (working hours only).11. Good understanding of Clinical Governance requirements and ensuring the service meets standards.12. Preparing assessment reports and other clinical documentation and correspondence as necessary, in accordance with trust policy.13. Liaison input to paediatric/medical wards as needed and sustain good working relationships and effective Junior Marsipan/MEED pathways with Paediatrics.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• Primary Medical Degree
• Full GMC Registration
• GMC Licence to Practise

Desirable

• MRCPsych (or equivalent)
• Section 12 MHA Approved.

Training

Essential

• Minimum 2-years psychiatry, paediatrics or medical practice at SHO level
• Previous clinical Experience of working with children and adolescents

Desirable

• An additional post graduate qualification of relevance to (own specialty)
