We have a really exciting opportunity in Milton Keynes to join our Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programme that allows you to learn, work and earn all at the same time and qualify as a Registered Nurse with no course fees to pay back.

The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) is an employer led programme, spread across 3 - 4 years, that offers a flexible route into becoming a nurse (subject to University approval). The Apprenticeship allows you to gain experience working as a Health Care Support Worker, whilst studying at University.

RNDA appointment dependant on the successful interview with both CNWL and the University which are separate processes.

Applicants must be able to work shift patterns inclusive of weekend working and nights which are on a pro rata basis.

Main duties of the job

Job Summary:

The post-holder will be employed as a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship and one of the main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to complete their apprenticeship successfully. This will include:

Attending the university delivering the apprenticeship

Completing all assignments and exams successfully

Completing all placements successfully including working within your scope of competence but also putting your learning as a Nursing degree apprentice into practice during placements

Attend all tri-partite meetings with your university advisors and Trust links

Adhering to the NMC Code of Practice at all times

You will also be an employee of CNWL and when not at university or completing supernumerary placements you will be expected to work as a Health care Support Worker (HCSW) and duties will include:

To provide planned, delegated nursing care to patients in their own homes or other settings as appropriate.

To demonstrate independent working without direct supervision.

To participate in shared care with other agencies, services as required.

Provide accurate feedback on patient care to the District Nurse and team.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nursing Degree Apprentice your key responsibilities will include:

Attending the university delivering the apprenticeship and ensuring that if you are sick or have any unplanned absences that you inform both the university and your line manager in the Trust

Completing all assignments and exams successfully

Completing all placements successfully including working within your scope of competence but also putting your learning as a Nursing degree apprentice into practice during placements

Attend all tri-partite meetings with your university advisors and Trust links

Asking for support either form the university of your line manager if you have any difficulties

As a health care support worker you will be expected to:

Carry out delegated clinical work from the nursing team.

Have knowledge and understanding of current infection control issues and apply universal precautions.

Recognise clinical and nursing needs of patients, carers and family, and reports these to the District Nurse and team.

Refer and liaise with other agencies and professionals as appropriate for patient need.

Encourage patients towards self-care and independence.

Professional:

Adhere to the NMC Code of Practice at all times

Attend in-service and professional training as required

Participate in Clinical Supervision and Clinical update

Assist in teaching and support to students

Keep accurate written and computerised records

Participate in team meetings and group discussions.

The following responsibilities are applicable to all Health Care Support Workers and most other staff members:

1. Maintain the highest standards of care and service, taking responsibility not only for the care you personally provide, but also for your wider contribution to the aims of your team and the NHS as a whole.

2. Be aware of and follow at all times the relevant National and Local code of practice in relation to their role and function. If you are in a post that requires registration with a professional body you are required to maintain that registration with the appropriate professional body.

3. Take responsibility for attending and participating in all mandatory & essential training to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the trust and/or safety and wellbeing of other staff and the patients you provide services for.

4. Participate in the appraisal process on a minimum of an annual basis in accordance with the Personal Development Review Policy to explore and identify development needs to ensure that you are able to fulfil your job role and meet all objectives set through the process.

5. Abide by locally agreed policies and procedures and ensure you familiarise themselves with such policies which can be found on the trust intranet our preferred method of communication. Staff who cannot access the intranet should contact their line manager.
