Here is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to be part of an innovative and rewarding project which we believe will play an incredibly important role in supporting health & social care staff, emergency services and teachers after difficult years facing the pandemic.
The Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) integrated care system developed a confidential wellbeing and psychological support service in 2021 which is open to all health and social care staff in the BLMK area. The service is known as Keeping Well and has the following aims:
- Deliver proactive outreach and engagement across BLMK
- Build capacity in local employer organisations or teams via training
- Provide rapid clinical assessment
- Provide onwards referral and care co-ordination to deliver rapid access to mental health services and support
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be part of a dynamic team who want to make a difference. If you have an interest in developing skills and experience in supporting staff across health and social care sector, as well as an interest in service development and innovative practice, this could be the job for you! As part of your role we are offering Eye Desensitisation Movement and Reprocessing (EDMR) training that you will be able to use to support our services users with trauma.
Main duties of the job
Currently the team is working remotely and you will be provided with laptops in order to work from home. We have started to meet face to face monthly at Milton Keynes hospital and in addition to this there is a requirement to attend some face-to-face meetings across the BLMK area.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists or trainees due to complete training in autumn 2022 who can demonstrate an interest in working with staff members.

About us
Keeping Well BLMK is a psychology led, multidisciplinary team working in partnership with local mental health services and appropriate third sector organisations. The successful candidate will assist the Clinical Lead build and facilitate psychological/ wellbeing support to keyworkers across BLMK. Alongside some direct clinical work, the postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and occupational health services in the BLMK area to contribute towards community outreach, education and training.

- To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the Keeping Well CNWL Service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings
- To assess, generate formulations and intervene using different theoretical frameworks, as appropriate
- To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations and drawing upon different explanatory models.
- To play a key role in the development and delivery of therapeutic groups and reflective practice to Teams in both an online and in-person context.
- To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
- To provide expertise, advice and support to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the treatment team.
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
- To provide specialist psychological advice guidance and consultation to other professionals and contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
- To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the Keeping Well CNWL service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group

- To assess and deliver highly complex, sensitive and contentious information in a hostile, antagonistic and emotional atmosphere, e.g. deciding whether clients are suitable for particular services, or explaining that a service is not available for a client, or having to break confidentiality and refer them to Social Services because of concerns about harm to children.
