Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Mental Health Occupational Therapist's to join our growing Occupational Therapy team with Hillingdon CMHT. This role is also a fantastic development opportunity for B5 occupational therapists with the relevant skills and experience who are looking for their next steps in their career

We recognise that Band 6's are often the backbone of our clinical teams and we will therefore support their development both clinically and managerially. You will have opportunities to supervise staff, be an educator and have access to both internal and external training. We are committed to supporting staff growth within the team , therefore Band 6 staff are encouraged to develop skills in leadership and will be support to explore area of clinical specialism

Main duties of the job

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and effective clinical reasoning
  • Working on duty at least twice a month to complete assessment, formulating risk assessment/ safety plans (this is due to reduce during CNWL Transformation)
  • Working with other agencies, families, carers and local communities. Experience of working within a community mental health setting is desirable
  • The post-holder will be familiar with occupational therapy models of practice, including the Model of Human Occupation, and will make use of a range of standardised assessments
  • Additionally, applicants should be willing to undertake further training to meet the needs of the client group. A commitment to continued professional development is essential
  • You will have the opportunity to take on your own caseload of service users, with serve and enduring mental health conditions
  • Facilitating groups such as Coping Skills, the Recovery Through Activity group. There are also exciting opportunities to create groups of interest based on service demands. Previous group experience are desirable
  • Provide culturally competent practice in all interactions with patients and in the preparation and design of all clinical intervention
  • Support students and provide practice placements at least once a year
  • Provide supervision and complete appraisals for junior staff members as well as taking an active role within your own supervision and professional development

To complete assessments and making recommendations with regards to the provision of equipment/aids and adaptations

To provide the multidisciplinary team (MDT) with an occupational therapy service; this will include individual and group work, assessment, intervention and evaluation in accordance with the College of OT Code of Ethics

To manage a caseload of service users with mental health needs; using evidence based and recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment
