Job summary

We are looking foraOccupational Therapist to join theSouth CumbriaCommunity Therapy Team, working acrossintermediate care beds and community therapy.Thisis as part of a newly integrated Community Therapy Team.

The post holder, working alongside other Clinical Lead Therapy colleagues, willbe responsible formanaging the deployment and supervision of an integrated therapy teamwithin the Furness area.

Alongside the Intermediate care beds, the service works closely with the Integrated Care Communities, local GP's, Adult Social Care, Advanced ClinicalPractitionersand hospital discharge teams.Theservice supports people with a wide variety of conditions including elderly care, frailty and falls,orthopaedicsand long-term condition management.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have advanced clinical skills of respiratory/mobility/neurological assessment and treatment skills and the ability to holistically manage complex patientsbothin our18 bedded intermediate care unit and thecoomunity.

With developments incommunitycare there will be opportunities to review practice and develop new ways of working to align with national guidelines. Clinical leadership and development of the service will be at the forefront, leading on service development and delivering training to further develop skills within the speciality.

The post holder will communicate with the MDT to effectively contribute to patient flow through sound knowledge of discharge pathways and community services.

You will have a shared responsibility ofmanagement of theOccupational Therapyteam, implementing service development in line with current evidence and standards and delivering training forOccupational Therapists,therapy support staff,studentsand the wider MDT. The role will includesomestaff management and service management responsibilities suchas managingabsenceand completing annual appraisals.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
