Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic, high performing neonatal nurse to join the team as a Neonatal Coordinator based at Furness General Hospital. The postholder will have excellent communication skills, passion for their role and be expected to promote and lead the delivery of an excellent standard of patient care. In collaboration with the relevant senior nursing team and Neonatal Matron, they will be required to provide senior nursing cover for the Special Care Unit. The role will include supporting other nurses, particularly during the acute period of admission and stabilisation/ transfer of babies.

The neonatal service is dedicated to delivering excellent family integrated care, have achieved NWNODN FICare Accreditation and are now working towards Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) stage 2 accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The Neonatal Coordinator will be responsible for the clinical and operational management of the unit on a shift basis.

They will be responsible for providing leadership and professional development for the nursing team within the service, promoting and maintaining organisational and professional standards.

The postholder will take the lead role responsibility for identified quality roles/initiatives within the unit and develop and support staff in progressing these roles/initiatives within the unit.

To promote a learning environment in the Neonatal Unit and evidence based practice.

To be accountable for the quality of care delivered within the unit by the team and work with our North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises.
