An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Colorectal/ Stoma - Clinical Nurse Specialist Service primarily based at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay The successful applicant will support the existing team to actively plan, implement and evaluate expert nursing care and provide specialist advice and psychosocial support to patients and their carers following stoma formation for a variety of diagnoses including Colorectal Cancer, within the hospital and community settings to ensure the continuity of an integrated seamless holistic approach to our patients You will work in collaboration with the Colorectal MDT, Consultants, and other members of the multi-professional team. You will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines and be required to make quality improvements in the provision of Stoma Care. Applicants for this post are invited from registered nurses who are enthusiastic, motivated and have excellent communication skills, stoma care and colorectal experience would be an advantage but is not essential. Ability to drive is essential.
Main duties of the job
o Care management of patients in Hospital, Community and othercare settings.o Able to actively assess, plan, implement & evaluate evidencebased patient care, incorporating the whole of the patients'pathwayo Provide expert, advice to patients, carers/relatives, clinicalpractitioners and peers.o Provide specialist education and training to others.o Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleaguesto develop services and evaluate quality of care delivered.o Contribute to the development of clinical services within thespecialist field.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
