Working as a Band 5 Physiotherapist you will rotate across: Orthopaedic inpatients and physiotherapy outpatient settings. The role offers opportunities to work with teams across in-patient, out-patient and community settings. The role will require some weekend working. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills with support from experienced Specialist Physiotherapists.
Main duties of the job
To undertake assessment, diagnosis, planning and implementation of individual therapeutic programmes of care from a range of clinical options, with the consent of patients and with the support of the Senior staff, based on sound clinical reasoning and evidence based practice.
To implement an agreed treatment plan in an appropriate manner that respects people's privacy, dignity and individuality. Reassessing patients' progress and altering treatment plans accordingly.
To refer on to other professions as necessary with the support of the Senior staff,e.g.consultants / socialservices.
To communicate with carers, patients, referrers and other professions to ensure the provision of excellent patient care. This may at times require staff to overcome barriers to understanding (impaired hearing, speech or cognition) and could include the transmission of sensitive information. This requires an empathetic approach to patient care.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

- Health and Care Professions Council registered Physiotherapist
- Honours Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy approved by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/ Health Professions Council

- Comprehensive experience at undergraduate level of the core competencies within physiotherapy for example: musculo-skeletal, neurology and cardio- respiratory care.
