Job summary
The Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network in conjunction with the Community Respiratory Service, have secured funding until April 2026, to trial a number of new services across Morecambe Bay, including (but not limited to) a new Advanced Respiratory Care at Home (ARCH) service, to provide advanced respiratory therapies in the domiciliary setting, for people with respiratory disease living with very high symptom burden who are at high risk of deterioration and urgent care use.
As an Advanced Respiratory OT supporting the ARCH service, our new team of Physio, Nursing and Medical (including Consultant) staff toprovide direct specialist clinical care to people with severe, complex and debilitating chronic respiratory disease, in the home setting, across the whole of Morecambe Bay., you will also be required to provide respiratory OT clinical supervision and teaching to other staff, across our integrated pathways.
We have up to 0.8 WTE B7 OT hours available (joining our existing part time B7 OT) and this role offers you a permanent contract with our Trust (UHMBT), and a role aligned with the Community Respiratory Service until 31st March 2026. Further funding for us to continue these Respiratory services beyond April 2026, will be dependent on the success of this trial period.
Main duties of the job
To provide thorough, holistic assessments, clinical examination and co-ordination and delivery of specialist clinical care interventions to patients, to support the management of respiratory symptoms and chronic respiratory disease.
To work closely with the MBRN teams and wider MDT to improve the management of respiratory disease across Morecambe Bay.
To work closely with the MBRN support staff and other members of the ARCH clinical team, to develop, deliver, audit and evaluate the ARCH service across Morecambe Bay,at the patient and system level, engaging in a cycle of continuous service improvement.
To work closely with system partners to embed the delivery of CORE+20 and local population health agendas into these MBRN pathways and services
To provide clinical leadership, supervision and training to the MBRN and wider MDT to support an overall improvement in Chronic Respiratory Disease management across Morecambe Bay.

About us
UHMBT Integrated Community Service provides care outside of the hospital setting, including community locations and people's own homes.
UHMBT Hospital service operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
