Job summary

We are looking for a Occupational Therapist to join the North Lancashire Community Therapy Team, working across the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and the community offices at Lancaster. This is as part of a newly integrated Community Therapy Team.

The post holder, working alongside other Clinical Lead Therapy colleagues, will be responsible for managing the deployment and supervision of an integrated therapy team within a defined clinical area/geographical community.

The service works closely with the Integrated Care Communities, local GP's, Adult Social Care, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and hospital discharge teams.Theservice supports people with a wide variety of conditions including elderly care, frailty and falls, orthopaedics and long-term condition management.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for clinical leadership and management of day-to-day service delivery, including supporting service development, HR management and compliance with CQC Standards.

Work under the direction of Clinical Team Leaders- with colleagues and stakeholders ensuring delivery of a coordinated, multidisciplinary and multi-agency service. This includes planning, delivering, evaluating and development of services.

Be responsible and accountable for providing therapy assessment and treatment to patients in various community settings.

Monitoring and analysing performance data.

Be an effective team player.

Embrace innovation and integrated working- demonstrating best practice to ensure patient centred care.

Have ability to demonstrate a commitment to clinical leadership.

Working together to deliver care to patients you will need to:

  • work as an individual within the community therapy team undertaking specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with frequently complex problems in their own homes, residential care homes or our 23-bed residential rehabilitation unit.
  • have completed a range of core rotations within the NHS as a occupational therapist
  • demonstrate and evidence own professional development
  • demonstrate ability to work independently
  • have a friendly and flexible attitude, dedicated to quality care
  • supervise and teach students and staff within the service

The role includes supporting colleagues across community therapy workstreams.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

  • Health Professions Council registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Post graduate training in specified clinical area to masters level or equivalent.
