Job summary

We are looking to expand our clinical team for Dermatology services at UHMBT by recruiting a Dermatology Specialty doctor.

The appointee is required to have appropriate experience and interest in dermatology.

The Dermatology service has been undergoing major transition within the last 12 months and we seek a highly motivated Specialty doctor with an appetite for change, growth and development. You will be joining a team that has seen recent success in delivering a high quality service and developing individuals professionally. Main duties of the job

The Dermatology team provides a comprehensive range of clinical services including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. The management of a wide range of inflammatory dermatosis in both adult and paediatric patients. The medical team is supported by an experienced and effective team of dermatology nurses and also collaborates with our local community based service. The new post holders will contribute to this service but will also be supported in developing areas of special interest, as well as educational and training skills. There will be opportunities to play a vital role in service development as well as educating and developing staff within the department as we look to grow the services we offer and ultimately achieve our aspiration of being recognised as a tertiary specialist centre. Academic collaborations with the three local medical schools will also be encouraged

The post holder will manage their own clinical workload and cover all types of dermatological conditions for two week wait, new and follow up patients and ward referrals, as well as performing minor operations and being an integral part of the sector MDT meetings.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCP or equivalent or higher diploma

Experience and knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum of three years experience at ST/SHO level or above in General Medicine and allied specialties
  • Ability to provide expert clinical opinion across a wide range of problems within the specialty, with previous exposure to Dermatology/Dermatology surgery
  • Proven and demonstrable ability to undertake independent clinical activity (e.g. surgical lists)

Desirable

  • Experience in the care of all aspects of Dermatology patients
