Applications are invited from enthusiastic, well-motivated, experienced Clinical Pharmacists with an interest in education and training with a focus on training the next generation of pharmacists in clinical pharmacy skills
This post is joint between UHMB and UCLan School of Pharmacy to be a Clinical tutor both on site at the university and support learning in the workplace at UHMB. You will also work as part of the UHMB clinical pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care to patients in wards and departments within the trust.
You will also provide education and training to a range of healthcare learners including foundation training of doctors within the organisation in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacist for Education and Training
You will need excellent time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage your workload independently, but link in with a range of colleagues on complex issues utilising excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will contribute to patient safety improvement and medicines optimisation initiatives.
Main duties of the job
-
To support the Lead Pharmacist in Education & Training in delivery of high quality education and training to a range of healthcare professionals and students so that they have sufficient skills, knowledge and competence to meet the professional and service standards required by patients, service customers and professional and regulatory bodies
- To work in conjunction with the UCLan School of Pharmacy in delivery of practice based clinical teaching both within the organisation and at the university.
The post holder will also participate in the pharmacy on-call rota to cover weekday nights at approximately once per 6 weeks. There may also be the requirement to participate in weekend working as the rota requires.
This post will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with some requirement to work onsite at UCLan in Preston.
About us
UHMB operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
