Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Advanced (Nurse) Practitioner to join our friendly team in the Emergency Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
We are looking for a Practitioner who enjoys working within a fast paced, acute environment, delivering high quality care.You will work supporting both the nursing and medical teams in the assessment and treatment of patients with a range of conditions.
During the trainee period individuals will be paid at a percentage of 8a as per Agenda for Change. The academic element of the Masters course will be provided at University of Central Lancashire over 2years
You will be paid trainee salary:Pay will be Annex U/21:
o Year 1- 70% of the top of a Band 8a
o Year 2 - 75% of the top of a Band 8a

Main duties of the job
We can offer you a friendly team to work alongside as we deliver high quality end to end patient interventions. You will be supported to work autonomously in delivering the best care within the emergency care setting and we will encourage you to be involved in yours and other colleagues development.
Main duties :
- To act as an advanced autonomous practitioner, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge whilst participating in direct evidenced based patient care. He/she will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients.
- To undertake health assessments; diagnosing, treating and discharging patients.
- The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Advanced Clinical Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice.
- Provide support within the team and act as role model and resource, encouraging and developing a high standard of clinical skill and improving patient outcome.
- Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, researcher, clinical advocate and implementer of clinical governance.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
