An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Acute Medical Unit at Furness General Hospital for a Clinical Support Worker to join our team.
The AMU is a 20 bedded inpatient unit providing care for all types of medical patients.
The units multi-disciplinary team are a group of dedicated, compassionate and professional individuals who are committed to the delivery of safe, high quality care. We are looking for like-minded, hard-working individuals to join our team, and help to make a difference for our patients.
This post is for 24 hours per week. The hours offered will be on a shift-pattern basis and will include weekends and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
The main role of the Clinical Support Worker will include providing fundamental nursing care to our in-patients, assist patients with all activities of daily living, to act in emergency situations and to support the qualified nursingstaff to deliver a high standard of care to all our patients.
You will be involved in:
- Direct patient care -this includes all activities of daily living, including assisting with washing, dressing and hygiene needs. Ensuring patient dignity and individual patient needs are met at all times.
- Assisting patients with meals, and completion of food charts and fluid intake charts.
- Working as an effective team member within a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality patient care.
- Assisting nursing staff with all tasks required within the department to support the delivery of high quality patient focused care.
- Helping to ensure the ward is a clean, safe, tidy and comfortable environment.
- Accurate completion of documentation regarding patient care.
- Recognise changes in patient condition and report to a RN.
- Instigate emergency procedures e.g. fire; CPR.
- Act as an effective role model for all ward staff.
- Assist in ensuring that effective channels are used to canvas the views and concerns of all patients and carers.
- There is a requirement for basic computer skills.
The applicant would need to be able to demonstrate effective communication skills and be committed to personal development.
