Job summary

We are looking for a clinically orientated, enthusiastic, highly motivated and adaptable Pharmacist to join our team. We have flexible opportunities available at our Royal Lancaster Infirmary site, located within minutes from the city centre.

Applications are welcomed from trainee pharmacists due to register shortly and pharmacists with experience in other disciplines within pharmacy, with training to support moving sector provided.

The successful candidate will join our ward-based clinical team and have opportunities to develop clinical skills through carefully managed rotations in different areas of inpatient specialities including cardiology, respiratory, orthopaedics, paediatrics, general surgery and acute medicine, as well as department-based specialist roles including aseptic, oncology, homecare and clinical trials. We encourage all our junior Pharmacists to undertake a clinical diploma and will support them with this.

The trust may be able to sponsor a skilled worker visa and can support with relocation costs if applicable.

Main duties of the job

Using our trust-wide Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration tool, you will work alongside our technical team to review medicines reconciliations, optimise patient's medications and verify discharge prescriptions.

As part of the team of Pharmacists you will on occasional be the responsible pharmacist in our automated dispensary, and will progress to taking part in the weekend rota. At this time, band 6 Pharmacists are not required to take part in the on-call rota.

We will support you to complete a clinical diploma to further develop your clinical knowledge and skills.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
