Job summary

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy PACS Managerin Radiology. This is a 37.5 hour, position, based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, though travel between sites may be required. The Trust has 6 sites, and carries out of full range of investigations, including Projectional Imaging, MR, CT, Ultrasound, Radionuclide Imaging and Breast screening.

The Trust procured Sectra PACS in 2016 and this was followed by Sectra RIS in 2019.

This post is to provide support to the current PACS manager, to ensure the smooth running of PACS, RIS, and other IT systems within Radiology. The post holder will have to work closely with all Radiology Departments and also with I3 to help support any future developments.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment. Applications are welcomed from those with a Radiography or IT background.

Main duties of the job

The Radiology Information Technology (IT) /Picture Archive and Communication System ( PACS) Deputy Manager will support the IT/PACS Manager in the operational performance of the trust wide Radiology IT Systems. They have responsibility for managing technical issues that affect Radiology IT which may arise with the systems on a day-to-day basis. They will escalate serious unresolved issues to the provider in conjunction with the IT/PACS Manager and the IT service desk.

The Radiology IT/PACS Deputy Manager is responsible for administration and troubleshooting of issues affecting Radiology IT systems (including PACS and RIS) cross Bay, supporting the IT/PACS Manager. In the absence of the IT/PACS Manager, the Radiology IT/PACS Deputy Manager will be responsible for Radiology IT issues within the trust.

The Radiology IT/PACS Deputy Manager is responsible for supervision and training of site-based PACS and RIS administrators, and organising and leading cross Bay meetings for these staff.

The Radiology IT/PACS Deputy Manager provides support to the PACS/RIS administrators and key users, to provide training to the staff both within and outside Radiology. This will involve delivering formal scheduled, and ad-hoc, training to groups of staff as required.

The Radiology IT/PACS Deputy Manager, will support the Radiology IT/PACS manager in procurement of new systems and equipment for their site, and the Trust.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
