Job summary

The Ophthalmology Team at WGH are looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Leader. This is a new post and an exciting opportunity has arisen, for the addition of a clinical leader to the current management team within Ophthalmology. The current management structure consists of a full time manager and part time clinical leader.

The position would be partly to enhance the current management structure as a clinical leader, working clinically on the unit as a coordinator to improve the current flow of the clinic, and also with a possibility with appropriate training to progress with additional skills to support the injection service, or learn specialist nurse skills to undertake nurse led clinics in the future.

The successful candidate will need to be motivated towards developing and maintaining standards within the nursing team to promote high quality patient care. You will be expected to support the team and Department Manager through future service redesign based on the Better Care Together programme and service developments that continue to improve a patient centred service.

You will need to have experience within ophthalmology and an appreciation for the Trust vision and commitment to patient focused care. Also experience in staff management would be an advantage.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
