Job summary

The Education Centre at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary provides a venue for teaching sessions, clinical teaching and meetings for the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and for outside organisations to hire for specific functions.

The post holder will work as part of a small domestic team and be responsible for maintaining a high standard for cleanliness. They will also be expected to use their initiative in carrying out their duties in relation to the use of the Education Centre and the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the Education Centre using the appropriate recognised cleaning methods. Their main duties will include:

• Maintaining all hard and soft floor areas including spillages
• Cleaning all teaching rooms, lecture theatre, library, WCs, offices, kitchens, sluices and student common room
• Cleaning all fixings such as radiators, pipes, window ledges, doors and door frames, and windows. Dusting walls as required.
• Cleaning all furniture, fittings and cupboards
• Cleaning and maintaining cleaning equipment and machinery
• Cleaning kitchen equipment
• Removing domestic waste from work areas

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
