Job summary

UHMBT and University of Cumbria are delighted to be offering this opportunity to join our organisation and start a career in nursing. This is a two year course and once you have successfully completed you will be a Nurse Associate (NA).

Following successful completion there may be further opportunity to continue your studies and apprenticeship to become a Registered Nurse (RN). This will be subject to performance, attitude and successful interview.

You will be paid in line with agenda for change trainee pay (Annex U 21 salary percentage - yr1 70% and yr2 75% of the top of band 4). The apprenticeship supplies you with a blend of "hands on" learning across our organisation to compliment the academic learning.

Please note the posts are available at Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow bases and placements will be cross bay.

Main duties of the job

We are a Teaching Hospital full of hard working and dedicated staff providing community and hospital services across the Morecambe area - an area covering a thousand square miles across south Cumbria and north Lancashire.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) Lancaster and Westmorland General (WGH) Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom hospital and GP practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community health centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services with full Emergency Department and Critical/ Coronary Care Units and various Consultant Lead Services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care, including Outpatient, Diagnostics, Therapies, Day Case, Inpatient Surgery. Community Facilities provide a local Outreach Service and Diagnostics within Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Services for adults are provided in people's homes, Community Centres, Clinics, GP Practices, Community Hospitals and our General Hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independence, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, health educations, advice and support.
