Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Clinician with a passion for service transformation to join the leadership team of the newly established Outpatient Programme (OP) across the North Lancashire and South Cumbria footprint. The objective of the OP is to re-design the approach to outpatient services to better meet the health and social care needs of the population of North Lancashire and South Cumbria. The programme will require whole system leadership, the successful candidate will use their specialist clinical knowledge and experience to support the meaningful co-production, design and implementation of the solutions required to develop effective and responsive care pathways across the breadth of services required to support effective citizen flow across pathways. The role will offer opportunities to work at a system level, co-designing an approach that is supported bypartners across NHS and third sector organisations. You will provide day to day professional leadership to the programme, providing specialist knowledge on the pre hospital, in hospital and post hospital workstream, as well as to the programme as a whole.

  • Working successfully in a political environment, developing effective working links with system partners
  • A thorough understanding of the issues and agendas facing the NHS and system partners, including relevant frameworks and regulatory regimes
  • Understanding of sustaining a culture that meets the needs of and engages with a range of diverse communities, customers and employees.
  • A proven track record of achievements in partnership and joint working with NHS partners, the community and other external and non-statutory bodies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others through difficult times and periods of significant change.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues whilst also being able to exercise judgement where strong decisive decision making is required.
  • Ability to develop practical, creative and long term solutions to service and corporate problems
  • Highly developed networking, partnership, advocacy, influencing, negotiating and presentation skills
The successful candidate would be contracted either on a self-employed basis or via their current employing practice

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
