Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Community based MSK Outpatient team involving assessment and treatment of a mixed caseload.
The post offers rotations at Alfred Barrow Health Centre and Millom Community Hospital therefore you must have the ability to work and travel to various sites within the Furness Locality. The team has fully equipped clinical areas and gym facilities and the opportunity to work closely with GPs and other health staff.
Main duties of the job
The Physiotherapy Service has a well-developed appraisal system, regular in-service training, monthly clinical supervision and actively encourages continuing professional development.
You will be expected to be involved in the supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students and other staff within the service.
About us
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Essential
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification
- HPC Registration
- Evidence of recent post-graduate courses and continuing professional development
- Sound knowledge of relevant conditions including specialised knowledge of musculoskeletal physiotherapy
Desirable
- Evidence of attendance at relevant post graduate courses
Experience
Essential
- Completion of all Core Junior Rotations in the NHS
- Involvement in service development through clinical audit, use of outcome measures etc
- Evidence Based practitioner
