Job summary

The Head of Culture and OD will be a visible, inclusive and collaborative leader, ensuring delivery of the Trust's vision to provide the highest possible standards of compassionate care; the very best patient and colleague experience; and to listen to and involve patients, employees and carers.

They will provide leadership and expert advice in all matters relating to cultural transformation. They will work to the Assistant Director of OD & Learning, ensuring that the Trust delivers its People & OD Strategy, including the Cultural Transformation Programme and ongoing delivery of organisational development initiatives related to culture and organisational climate.

The Head of Culture and OD will take full responsibility for developing and directingthe operationalisation of the Cultural Transformation Programme through a delivery plan and assurance process (including through the Recovery Support Programme to the System Improvement Board) that ensure that UHMB is a great place to work; a great place to be cared for.

They will lead designated programmes of work across the Trust, with expert support and advice from regional and national teams (NHSEI, CQC) to deliver sustainable culture change and improved experience for colleagues and patient care across Morecambe Bay.

The post holder will pick up and deliver the existing programme of work, as well as shape our approach into the future. We recognise that culture is not a short-term project and are looking for a permanent addition to the Organisational Development, Learning and EDI team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of OD and Learning, the post holder will work alongside the Head of L&D and the Head of Inclusion and Engagement. We are looking for someone that has a passion for organisational culture and development and the experience and skills to lead through teaming with and bringing the best out of other colleagues. The role requires a natural collaborator and inclusive leader that can manage a complex project whilst also personally deliver on specific workstreams and direct interventions in the OD space.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay
