Whilst the base for this position has been highlighted as Westmorland General Hospital, the base for this post can be negotiable upon discussion at interview and we welcome anyone that may prefer a base of either Royal Lancaster Infirmary or Furness General Hospital, Barrow-in-Furness. You must however have the ability to work cross bay on a weekly basis.

Main duties of the job

This is a new and exciting role within the Trust, as an expert midwife we would be looking for you to lead on strategic initiatives to promote and facilitate personalised midwifery care in all clinical settings across Morecambe Bay.

You will provide professional leadership and role modelling in best practice models to offer choice and evidence based practice, with a focus on listening to the experience of women/persons and their families in order to ensure women/people and their families remain the central focus for care.

As part of the role you will also be to lead and support midwives to accomplish their full potential as autonomous practitioners placing women/persons and their families at the centre of care planning.

This post is instrumental in supporting the development of the vision to improve services as well as evidence of effective leadership within Morecambe Bay.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
