Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in the Estates Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Lancaster.

You should be experienced, time served and suitably qualified in Electrical engineering maintenance, fault finding and repairs.

You should also be proficient in small scale installation work on electrical services, plant and equipment at the Hospital and other local health care premises.

Flexible working hours will be required where you will assist other trades and undertake tasks to maintain the building services.

The Estates team at the RLI is part of the UHMBT maintenance services that provide maintenance to all Trust healthcare estate, building's, plant and equipment. The team at the RLI consists of Electrical/mechanical and building craft persons managed by a dedicated Estates maintenance management team.

Close working relationships are essential to provide the required core service requirements.

Main duties of the job

Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections, adjustments and commissioning tests in accordance with Trust procedures and schedules on a wide variety of Hospital equipment.

Carry out statutory safety checks and departmental procedures, recording all readings, undertake sampling and observations as required.

Carry out first line assessment, fault finding, repair, substitute service and/or safe isolation as required.

Re-prioritise your work according to the latest situation.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
