Job summary

"As a Systems Developer within the Digital Solutions team at UHMB you will be working within a small development team to support a number of internal Trust systems. The position will allow you to work with new and legacy systems designed to enhance patient and staff experience at the Trust and you will play a leading role in the future of these systems. We are a dynamic software development team who work to Agile working practices and are always looking at ways in which we can improve the way we work or the technologies we use within our systems.

Main duties of the job

To be considered for the role, you should be competent with the following technologies:

  • C# / .NET(Essential)
  • ASP.NET MVC(Essential). Experience with ASP.NET Core would be desirable.
  • JavaScript, jQuery(Essential). Experience of a front-end framework such as AngularJS/Vue/Knockout JS would be desirable.
  • SQL Server(Essential)
  • Git Version Control
  • Dependency Injection
  • Unit Testing (xUnit, NUnit)

About us

We operate from three main hospitals -Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of a formal systems analysis methodology to support business & system process modelling and data modelling. In-depth knowledge of the principles of database design
  • Good working knowledge of software development using relational databases and a modern development environment and languages e.g. Visual Studio (Webforms, Winforms, MVC), ASP.NET (VB.NET / C#.NET), jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, SQL Server, Transact SQL, MS Reporting Solutions
  • A working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems in the design, development, implementation and support of software

Desirable

  • Experience using version control and project tracking software
  • Understanding of MS Active Directory and LDAP
  • A broad understanding of computer hardware, software and of the network infrastructure deployed within UHMB
  • Knowledge of project planning - formal techniques and principles

Education and qualifications

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level or hold a recognised business/professional qualification
  • Full driving licence

  • Minimum of three years commercial or industrial computing experience
