Job summary

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and resourceful data and quality assistant to support the Biochemistry laboratories of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

The Biochemistry department operates two main laboratories, one at Furness General Hospital and one at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. You will be required to travel between sites to support both laboratories, you may also be required to travel to Westmorland General Hospital on occasion.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will have excellent information technology knowledge and skills and be comfortable working in a clinical laboratory environment. You will need to be flexible and responsive to urgent issues that may arise.

The post is challenging and the IT and quality systems that you will be supporting are complex and varied.

You will be comfortable working within a team and must also have excellent communication skills to enable you to liaise with many different teams within the Trust but also with various partner organisations and IT system suppliers.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
