Applications are invited for a Consultant posts, totalling 10 PAs, based at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
This is a new post and the successful applicant will join a dedicated team of stroke and neurology consultants providing stroke, neurology and associated rehab services. This will include outpatient clinics, ward rounds, consultations on other wards and the associated administrative duties. A special interest in dystonia and spasticity, supplementing the existing interests of colleagues, is preferred. Research and academic activity are encouraged.
Main duties of the job
The appointed consultant(s) will:
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Neurology and Neurophysiology.
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
- Provide professional supervision and management of resident medical staff.
- Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at the fortnightly Consultant/Directorate meetings and regular consultant away days.
- Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all Consultants), carried out by the Clinical Director. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
- Active involvement in audit.
- Involvement in research - Joint research projects are undertaken with both the University of Teesside (University of the Year 2009) and Durham University and involvement in the further development of research links.
- Continuing professional development.
- Any other duties which may be required.
