We are a dynamic and diverse Trust, with a friendly and supportive atmosphere and our team delivers of over 5500 births a year between our two hospitals; The James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage (FHN) maternity centre.

The Friarage maternity centre, which is a midwifery-led unit, offers a comfortable relaxed environment for women and their partners and is a good choice for women who are keen to have a natural birth with minimum intervention.

The post-holder will be based at FHN Maternity Centre (MLU), however, will be expected to work at our James Cook Hospital site on occasion and at times of escalation.

Main duties of the job

We offer a bespoke training induction to smooth your transition into our team and we welcome your fresh energy, experience and passion to drive our service forward. You will have the opportunity to utilise your well-honed skills to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women and their families in our area.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.
