Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Community Paediatric Therapies Service. The post holder will provide Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to children aged 0-19 years including within the specialist educational provision setting.
The post is based at West Acklam Centre but there is also the requirement for independent travel around community settings within the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland region. It involves working within the wider integrated Paediatric Therapies Service which includes the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams covering the acute services at The James Cook University Hospital.
The post holder will be based in the community, working with children of all ages.
The post entails working within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams offering specialist Physiotherapy assessment, intervention and rehabilitation, providing advice where needed to other professionals regarding the children's physical management.
The post holder will be a member of the Paediatric Therapies Service which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Support workers and administrative staff. The majority of the team work within the community , however you will also work closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working within the acute setting at The James Cook University Hospital. Supervision and support are provided by the wider team.
Main duties of the job
We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team who all work together to provide the best possible outcomes for the children, young people and their families. There will be the opportunity to develop more advanced clinical, leadership and service development skills.
To provide assessment and interventions to children/young people aged 0-19 years old with a variety of conditions, including complex needs who are resident within the South Tees region.
Undergraduate or postgraduate experience working within Paediatric Physiotherapy would be advantageous but an enthusiasm for working with a wide range of children/young people up to the age of 19 is essential.
Close working with parents, educational and other health professionals is essential. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own, frequently using your own initiative. The role will require being involved with clients exhibiting a wide range of multiple, medical, social and emotional problems as well as home/nursery/school visits, rehabilitation and education.
The ability to travel independently is an essential part of this post.
