Senior Rotational Physiotherapist

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Acute rotations based at The James Cook University Hospital. The successful post holder will treat a wide variety of patients with different conditions, providing comprehensive assessments and treatment plans across some of the following areas and specialities:

Critical Care - Neurosurgery, Major Trauma

Cardiothoracics - Cardiology and Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery

Surgery - Upper GI, Lower GI, Urology, Gastroenterology and Vascular

Acute Medicine - Respiratory, Endocrinology and Renal

We are looking for a physiotherapist with the ability to think outside the box, who can work independently and within a team and brings experience from a variety of settings. The successful candidate will support junior physiotherapists, students and unqualified staff, providing training and supervision alongside effective ward and caseload management skills.

Main duties of the job

To provide advanced clinical and professional Physiotherapy to the above clinical areas at The James Cook University Hospital and to provide support to the Physiotherapy team leads ensuring that the Acute Physiotherapy Team contributes to the Strategic plan for South Tees NHS Trust.

Undertake physiotherapy advanced assessments of patients with diverse and complex conditions, providing a clinical diagnosis (where appropriate) and to develop and delivery individualised treatment programmes.

As a clinical supervisor, delegate tasks to assistant practitioners and junior therapists relevant to their skill level and competence.

The post holder will be expected to have experience in the physiotherapy management of critical care patients, acute and long term respiratory conditions alongside general rehabilitation. Relevant post graduate study, leadership training and experience is also desirable.

This post will offer development in clinical skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research and the Hospital has close links with both the University of Teesside and Durham University.
