Job summary

Ward 26 is an 19 bedded Neurological Rehabilitation Unit, caring for patients following brain injury or those with complex neurological conditions. We are seeking motivated individuals to join the nursing team.

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.

Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.

Band 3 requirements:

Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE A-C/4-9 or

Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)

Care certificate

Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.

Main duties of the job

Applicants for this post must be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to work in this specialty and be committed to delivering high quality patient centered care. Experience as a Clinical Support Worker would be required.

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size.

It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe.
