An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated nurse to join our team on the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

We are a regional centre for cardiology committed to the provision of high quality evidence based patient care. Experience is preferable, but not essential as the successful applicants will have opportunity to develop their clinical skills supported by in-house training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the specialist care of a patient or group of patients assessing, development, implementation and evaluation of care. They will be required to offer clinical support to the B7 Nurse in Charge and staff on duty throughout the 24 hour period.

The main responsibilities of the role will be related to specialist clinical expertise within the acute Coronary Care setting with an emphasis on training and development of junior and new staff.

The post holder is expected to be part of the trust cardiac arrest team. The post holder will also provide clinical cover for Non Invasive Testing Clinics at both Friarage (FHN) & The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) site.

Essential

  • Evidence of further professional development.
  • Experience of advanced clinical assessment, judgement, and decision-making including ECG interpretations skills in the telephone triage of patients in the care of ambulance services and those presenting to other clinical areas both within JCUH and other hospitals with the region, to advise on care and appropriate destination.
  • To provide clinical expertise within CCU/Cardiology, giving support and advice to nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of clinical governance and risk management

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • BSc/Diploma in Adult Nursing
  • Current NMC Registration
  • ALS Provider
  • Recognised university accredited qualification in advanced ECG and rhythm analysis (may be part of above).
  • Recognised university accredited qualification in physical assessment skills (may be part of above)
  • Current Independent Nurse Prescriber status, or working towards
  • Current competence as non-medical referrer in compliance with IR(ME)R 2017
  • Degree, specialist training to Masters level - or working towards MSc
  • Recognised Teaching certificate

  • Evidence and experience of positive leadership skills and the ability to transform and lead a team to work effectively together
  • Significant experience working as a Band 6 RN in CCU/Cardiology
