Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of consultant non-vascular interventional radiologist. The post is to assist the existing interventional radiologists in providing the expanding variety and number of procedures. There will also be a significant diagnostic component to the post, both acute and elective, including support for the on-call rota. The ethos of the department is to provide an excellent patient experience through team work, both internally and with our clinical colleagues.
Main duties of the job
To maintain the highest clinical standards in non-vascular interventional radiology
Contribute to the diagnostic on-call rota
Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at monthly directorate and weekly Radiologists meetings.
Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all consultants) and revalidation. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
Active involvement in audit and research

Support the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching commitments of the department

About us
The Radiology service encompasses the departments at James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital. As part of the Teesside Community Diagnostic Centre collaboration there are also scanners at the Stockton Hub and Redcar Hospital spoke site. We also provide imaging, plain film and ultrasound, at five smaller units across the region.
There are over 300 people working within the department. These include 21 consultant radiologists, 15 radiology SpRs, 120 radiographers, 40 advanced practitioners and 13 nurses.
The combined imaging facilities consist of 8 CT scanners (2 dual source), 6 MRI (including a 3T), 17 ultrasound rooms, 3 fluoroscopy rooms and 2 hybrid endovascular suite. There is also an on-site PET-CT, SPECT-CT and gamma camera.
The Centre has its own four bed and two recliner Day Unit with a supporting team of skilled nurses and radiographers to support patient intervention and diagnostic procedures.
Our team of Consultant Radiologists work together and closely with other clinical colleagues. Weekly MDTs and clinical meetings are held across all specialties to promote best practice and patient outcomes.
