Clinical Support Worker / Clinical Support Worker Higher Level

Job summary

We require a motivated clinical support worker to work within The Clinical Decisions Unit Emergency Care Directorate at the Friarage Hospital.

The successful candidate will work within the multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care to patients admitted to the Unit.

We will require the successful candidate to work days, night's weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending uponqualifications.

Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.

Band 3 requirements:

Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE A-C/4-9 or

Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)

Care certificate

Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the specialty and will assist in the management and delivery of compassionate, high quality patient care.

The post holder will work with nursing assistants, clerical support and support the training of student nurses and volunteers.

Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C's at all times acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with all Trust policies in particular policies relating to personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
