This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our general rehab therapy Team on the Zetland Ward at Redcar Primary Care Hospital. The post holder will be employed as a Therapy assistant practitioner, working collaboratively with Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and therapy assistants

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and a number of community hospitals including Redcar Primary Care Hospital which has a rehabilitation Unit. James Cook University Hospital is a major trauma centre and provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to have substantial experience as a therapy assistant. Additionally experience working with OPM or in the PCH is desired.

The Therapy Services is a well established large, progressive and dynamic service, which continue to develop within the wider trust. The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from Physiotherapists and OT's within the team.

This post offers development assessment, review and progression of patients rehabilitation, along with caseload management and greater insight into MDT meetings/discussions. We have an established and comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research as the hospital has close links with the local universities.

Support and in-service training will be provided to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the role. There are supervision structures and competencies in place to ensure that you continue to deliver the best possible service to the patients in our care.

  • Therapy Assistant Practitioner - "Knowledge acquired through in-house training, short course and experience to NVQ 3 level or equivalent, plus knowledge of specific patient conditions, forms of therapy, acquired through training, experience" or NVQ3 in relevant subject
  • Level 1 in Maths/English or equivalent

Desirable

  • Additional training relevant to post

  • Substantial previous experience as an AHP therapy assistant

  • Experience working in older persons medicine or PCH
  • Previous experience working as a band 4 therapy assistant.
