Job summary
James Cook Cancer Institute and Speciality Medicine (JCCISM) is the specialist centre for cancer and special medicine diagnostics and treatment across Teesside, North Yorkshire and beyond. The Oncology Directorate is one of four within JCCISM, within the directorate with deliver a specialist Acute Oncology Service, that supports cancer patients admitted to hospital who are unwell with a complication of their cancer, side effects of their cancer treatment of have a new diagnosis of cancer.
The post will provide comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support to a small team of AOS Nurses based at JCUH. This is a busy team so you will need to be motivated and enthusiastic with proven skills in managing your own workload and prioritisation of tasks. Attention to detail and good organisational skills will be of great benefit.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Oncology Team Leader with input from the AOS Nursing team the post holder will provide and develop a comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support service to members of the team
Supporting the AOS Team in managing appointments and clinic including booking appointments and recording appointment data, coding and procedures
Having responsibility for the collation and distribution of reports and letters arising from the clinical activity, providing a high standard of proof-reading
Supporting the AOS Team in actively managing appointments and co-ordinating the daily flow from the point of referral through to appointment allocation.
Supporting with management of telephone enquiries until one of the AOS Team can respond
Utilising excellent communication skills to exchange confidential and sensitive information appropriately and exercise good judgement in a variety of situations.
Interacting compassionately with services users and carers at all time
Supporting the development, implementation and organisation of complex and new administration systems and services.
Supporting the collation and timely dissemination of statistical data necessary to service requirements.
