This is an exciting opportunity for a new Consultant in Nephrology post based in the North East Region of England. This is a full time position primarily based at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, which would be focused on contributing to the delivery of the Nephrology services across the Tees Valley.
Main duties of the job
About the role:
This is a new position to complement an existing team of 8.9 WTE consultant Nephrologists. The post holders will be part of the team providing a comprehensive renal service (with the exception of acute renal transplantation) for the population of Teesside, South Durham and parts of North Yorkshire. There is an expectation of a responsibility for approximately 100 patients on renal replacement treatment and to contribute proportionately to the other aspects of the nephrology service, including in-patient and out-patient management of chronic kidney disease, management of transplanted patients, managing patients with AKI across the hospital and neighbouring hospitals, and procedures including vascular access and biopsies. In particular we are looking for applicants who have in interest in transplantation, pre-dialysis and interventional nephrology.

- Full GMC registration
- MRCP(UK) or equivalent
- Relevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
- Specialty Certificate exam in Renal medicine (if CCT date after 1.1.11)
Desirable
- Training in appraisal techniques
Experience
Essential
- Ability to undertake the complete audit cycle and to participate in multi-disciplinary audit
- Experience in providing vascular access service
- Experience in caring for kidney transplant patients

- Evidence of research or innovative service developments
