The role of the Senior Preceptorship Lead is to act as a central point of contact within South Tees NHS foundation trust, and to be responsible for the co-ordination, evaluation, and monitoring of the preceptorship programme. The senior preceptorship lead is responsible for the development and review of both programme, policy and preceptorship packs. As a gold standard, they would provide a development programme and support network for preceptors and maintain a register of preceptors to assist in the identification of trained preceptors for new registrants. The post holder will strive towards the development of a support network of preceptorship champions across the trust.

The senior preceptorship lead will promote the support, development and confidence of all newly qualified nurses and AHPs and be actively engaged in recruitment and retention strategies. The post holder will ensure that the objectives, values and aspirations set in the National preceptorship framework for nursing (2022) are fully incorporated into the foundations of the preceptorship program delivered at South Tees NHS.

Main duties of the job

The senior preceptorship lead will liaise effectively with both practice placement facilitators and clinical educators within the education and practice development team to provide the highest quality experience for all learners within the organisation, ensuring the seamless transition across the learning journey.

The senior preceptorship lead will manage a small team of educators and administrators and be responsible for the implementation of the registered nurse degree apprenticeships (RNDA) and nursing associates apprenticeship (NA) programs. The post holder will lead on the progression of staff through their learning journey to registration and beyond and will be responsible for all governance and quality assurance in respect to all aspects of the programs. The post holder will be responsible for responding to complex issues and complaints pertaining to the above apprentice programs.

The post would suit a highly motivated and experienced professional with a passion for education and the development of others. They will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to use a problem-solving approach to deal effectively with all aspects of the role as well as promote and develop high quality evidence-based, patient focused practice.
