Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated individual who is looking to expand their knowledge in the holistic care of patients undergoing treatments for a wide range of cancers and medical conditions. You will join the oncology team who specialise in oncology and radiotherapy patients.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience within oncology nursing. Ideally you will be competent at delivering systemic anti cancer therapy, but training would be provided for the right candidate. You will be expected to be able to uses transferrable skills and work between clinic and CIAB services. You will be expected to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative and will be positively encouraged to recognise and develop service improvement.
In return you will be working within a proactive, dynamic team, supporting delivery of a first class service and will have the opportunity to positively influence care for cancer patients and their families.
There is an expectation that you will rotate within the day unit departments to support your development and service provision.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
