Job summary

We are part of the South Tees Nutrition and Dietetic service working across The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland community, Friarage Hospital Northallerton and Hambleton & Richmond community. Occasional travel between sites will be necessary.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person, with excellent communication skills, to join our team based at The James Cook University Hospital site. You will be working predominantly for the Dietetics team but with some support to colleagues within the Adult Speech & Language Therapy service, e.g. during periods of absence cover. This is a busy role so candidates will need to be highly motivated and have a flexible approach to their role to ensure the needs of the service are met. They will need to be able to work under pressure using their own initiative. As a first point of contact for some of our service users, exceptional customer service skills will be essential.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Clerical Team Leader and other admin and clerical colleagues and service leads to enable us to provide an efficient and service user friendly administrative support service.

As well as providing general clerical support for the dietetic service, this post includes clerical duties for the home enteral feeding (HEF) clerical team who help support patients fed via a feeding tube at home.

The post will involve duties work such as

  • filing, photocopying
  • typing
  • taking / receiving and relaying messages, answering telephone queries,
  • directing patients, carers and visitors,
  • liaising with dietetic and speech therapy staff, nurses, doctors other clinical and managerial staff
  • support with clinic administration
  • providing administrative support for eroster minute taking
  • inputting information for service databases
