Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a full time fixed term, one-year fellowship inFemale, Functional and Reconstructive Urology & Neuro-Urologyat South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The Functional Urology Service is well developed, providing a highly specialist tertiary referral practice in all aspects of female, functional, reconstruction and Neuro-Urology (urinary incontinence, benign bladder dysfunction, complex LUTS, urinary tract reconstruction and complex UTI).This service is led by Mr Simon Fulford and Ms Mehwash Nadeem.
The team includes a dedicated MDM, Research fellow and Specialist Nurses. We have specialist clinics related to Urodynamics, botulinum toxin treatment, neuromodulation, functional urology, recurrent UTIs and Spinal Injuries.
Main duties of the job
Aiming to become fully independent in core specialist procedures such as:
- Video-urodynamics
- Intradetrusor botox
- Rectus fascial sling
- Colopsuspension
- Artificial Urinary Sphincter
- Urethral bulking agent
- Sacral Neuromodulation
Aiming to become close to independent in complex Functional and reconstructive procedures such as:
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Urological care
- Undertake any responsibility which relates to the agreed special interests i.e. functional and reconstructive Urology and the Urological care of Spinal Injury patients.
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
- Cover sessions cross site sessions at the Friarage Hospital.
- Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
- Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at the Teaching/Directorate meetings
- Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory), carried out by the Clinical Director/Nominated Appraiser. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
- Active involvement in audit
- Involvement in research - Joint research projects are undertaken with both the University of Teesside and York University and involvement in the further development of research links.
- Continuing professional development.
- Any other duties which may be required to enhance provision of high standard of urological services across Teesside
