Specialty Doctor Neurorehabilitation
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Specialty doctor to join our multidisciplinary team in the Neurorehabilitation unit at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
South Tees Trust is one of the largest in the country and provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialities. The Trust is a designated Major Trauma Centre which in addition to providing services to the local population covers a range of highly specialist tertiary services extending to 1.5 million people in Teesside and parts of Cumbria, Durham and North Yorkshire with leading expertise in heart disease, cancer, trauma, neurosciences, renal services and specialised spinal surgery.
The post would be ideally suited to someone who wishes to further develop a wide range of skills in the field of Neurorehabilitation. The Unit admits around 150 new admissions per year and provides services to patients with a broad spectrum of neurological conditions and traumatic injuries. Specialist Outpatient services include spasticity, prosthetics and, traumatic brain injury clinics.
Candidates should be enthusiastic, full GMC registration is required.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team responsible for the acute and ongoing rehabilitation needs of the patient group.

The post holder will liaise as necessary with other specialist teams.

The post holder will provide/support day-to-day medical care for the unit. This will include routine ward round, day to day care and admission and discharge of patients as necessary.

The post holder will be expected to attend scheduled OPD sessions including outreach clinics, Multi-disciplinary meetings and case conferences as necessary and will have the practical skills necessary for the care of the neurorehabilitation patient.

The post holder will be supported to develop rehabilitation medicine skills including patient assessments, in-patient rehabilitation, rehabilitation and spasticity (botox injections) clinics.
