Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Haematology Directorate. The post holder will be based on Ward 33 which is a busy in-patient Haematology Unit at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. You will be joining a well-established team.
The successful candidate will need to be willing to undertake phlebotomy and cannulation training, if not already trained in this.
Professional and personal development is encouraged.
Please note if you do not have the qualifications or experience marked as essential for a Band 3 role, you will be appointed at a Band 2.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of
competency workbook equivalent
to Level 3 in a range of patient and
clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and
experience in a range of clinical
care duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should be well motivated, enthusiastic and willing to develop new skills. It is expected that the applicant work as part of the team; using their initiative whilst delivering an excellent standard of care and service to our client group.
The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT),undertaking personal care activities, delegated clinical care duties including clinicalobservations as directed by registered professionals and within clearly definedWard ManagerBand 6 sister / Charge NurseClinical Support Worker Higher Level2parameters, to provide healthcare and support that is individualised to the patientneeds.The post holder will update and maintain accurate records of any care provision andupdate and escalate any concerns from their observations and activities to theappropriate registered professional.
