The Medical Engineering department supports clinicians and staff with the maintenance of a wide range of medical devices used for patient treatment and diagnostics, ensuring the safety of the devices through a routine maintenance schedule.The department comprises of maintenance technicians, support staff and apprentice staff dealing with a wide range of medical equipment used across clinical specialties.

The Medical Engineering asset and contracts administrator will actively take part in negotiation and administration of a portfolio of maintenance contracts with service providers in line with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust maintenance requirements. Ensuring that key contract management processes are undertaken to a high standard. The post holder will ensure that appropriate contract documentation is in place, regular performance management and reporting is undertaken to the required timescales and that effective and productive relationships are developed with the service providers and clinical users where necessary.

Main duties of the job

Monitor medical equipment service contract renewals. Timely and accurate preparation of contract details for evaluation by the Head of Medical Engineering. Place orders as directed in accordance with Trust financial standing orders. Place service contractor call outs when required. Monitor service reports against the contract. Liaison with departments and contractors with regards to servicing, location, missing equipment, changes to details, price increases & other general queries.

The post holder will recognise any potential savings during renewal of external maintenance contract negotiations, document those savings and CIP for reporting to Estates and Facilities management team.

Play an active role contributing to the effective high quality management and maintenance of medical devices in line with the Trust policy within a patient centred environment. Responsible for administration of the Medical Engineering, Trust asset's maintenance database. Liaison with capital finance accountants for monthly reporting with regards to commissioning, transfer & disposals of Trust assets. Liaison with clinical departments on systems & correct procedures for equipment access.

The post holder will supervise the administrative staff and the operation of the Medical Engineering office and helpdesk ensuring all support calls are logged onto the computer database, checked, and verified for accuracy and forwarded to the technical team to be actioned.
