Job summary

We are delighted to advertise for a passionate and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our pharmacy medicine team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post for Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Acute Medicine will work closely with other senior pharmacists within the medicine team to provide outstanding leadership and service development across the medical wards and departments. There is also scope within the role to expand services to the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care areas. The role will encompass input into delivery of effective clinical and operational pharmacy services, implementation of service improvements and ensuring patient safety within the designated divisions.

Applying candidates should be strong leaders with a passion for clinical pharmacy services, and have experience working within medicine areas. They will also be expected to develop strong professional relationships with a wide variety of colleagues and stakeholders. We are searching for an enthusiastic pharmacist who is forward thinking and keen to take on new challenges.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will work full time hours 8.30am-5pm Monday - Friday. They will also be included in dispensary and extended/out-of-hours rotas, which are currently:

  • 2 hours per week rota'd time in dispensary
  • 1 day weekend working once every 5 weeks (reimbursed with a weekday off the following week)
  • 1 'late night' shift every 2 weeks (working hours 9am-5.30pm)
  • On call duties on a rolling rota basis, approximately 1 in 60

Note condensed and flexible working is available as per trust policy.The pharmacy department at South Tees hosts over 220 members of staff and provides a stimulating, friendly, and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical expertise and professionalism.
