Consultant General Gynaecologist (LTFT 6 PAs)

The James Cook University Hospital is seeking to appoint a P/T general gynaecologist to join the friendly, dynamic and forward thinking gynaecology team. The applicant must hold CCT or be within six months of completing training. The post attracts 6 PAs and the applicant will be expected to provide care at both The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

The James Cook University Hospital is a large teaching hospital in Teesside which provides care to women across the Tees Valley on two sites. We are a training centre for advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery in endometriosis. In addition we provide tertiary centre care for Gynaecological Oncology, a regional centre for complex Maternal / Fetal and Neonatal Care, Reproductive Gynaecology, and has BSUG accreditation for Urogynaecology and will be applying for SST status for urogynaecology in 2024.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for part time appointment (initially 6 PAs with a view to increasing hours if desired as future retirements occur) to complement the general gynaecology team and contribute to further development of the services we provide. The post holder is expected to take part in the on call and hot week rotas and an active role in the teaching programmes of the department and to supervise the training of BAS trainees in gynaecology.
